Ubotica, an Irish company specializing in space-based artificial intelligence, has embarked on a significant initiative as part of the MESEO project. This ambitious endeavor is funded under Horizon Europe, a cornerstone of the European Union’s Space Programme aimed at enhancing the utilization of Earth Observation data. Scheduled from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2026, MESEO targets the development of a flexible and scalable multi-mission Earth Observation system tailored for large-scale data processing.

At its core, MESEO seeks to showcase effective management of vast data volumes transmitted by numerous satellites to diverse end users. These applications span crucial sectors such as environmental monitoring, defence, security, logistics, food production, and insurance. By integrating cutting-edge technologies, MESEO aims to revolutionize how Earth Observation data is leveraged across these domains.

Ubotica, headquartered in Dublin, plays a pivotal role within a consortium that includes industry giants like Airbus, Resolvo (Italy), Satlantis (Spain), Sistema (France), the University of Ferrara (Italy), Creotech Instruments (Poland), and Sovity (Germany). GMV, a prominent technology business group, leads this consortium, pooling expertise to tackle the project's multifaceted challenges.

Within the consortium, Ubotica stands out for its specialization in merging AI with Computer Vision for EdgeAI applications. Furthermore, Ubotica contributes custom Neural Networks designed to address intricate Earth Observation challenges directly onboard spacecraft. These advancements promise to enhance data processing capabilities, thereby empowering stakeholders with more timely and accurate insights.

By participating in MESEO, Ubotica not only reinforces its leadership in space AI but also underscores Ireland's growing influence in the global space technology landscape. This collaboration signifies a significant step towards advancing Europe’s capabilities in utilizing space-based assets for societal and economic benefits.
