Spire Global Awarded Contract to Build IoT Constellation for Lacuna Space

Spire Global, a space services specialist, has secured a significant contract from Lacuna Space, a satellite IoT provider, to develop and operate six satellites for a dedicated IoT constellation. All of these satellites will be manufactured in Glasgow, marking a milestone for the Scottish space industry.

As part of the agreement, Spire will be responsible for the construction and launch of the spacecraft. These satellites will carry Lacuna Space's payload and antenna, with the potential to expand the constellation to include dozens of additional satellites in the future.

This collaboration will bolster Lacuna Space's existing ten satellites as the company endeavors to establish an IoT network that facilitates cost-effective and dependable global connections for sensors and mobile equipment. The integration of Spire's expertise with Lacuna Space's innovative approach is poised to significantly enhance accessibility and reliability within the IoT landscape.
