MLX90823 and MLX90825: Two new ICs by Melexis

03/04/2023

Melexis, a global supplier of micro-electronic semiconductor solutions, has recently introduced two new relative pressure sensor integrated circuits (ICs) that offer extended robustness to harsh media. These sensors are designed to operate in environments where the presence of chemicals, water or other abrasive materials may cause damage or interference with traditional sensors.

The first of these new ICs is the MLX90823 , which is a differential pressure sensor that is ideal for use in automotive and industrial applications. This sensor is capable of measuring pressures up to 10 bar and is designed for use in harsh environments where exposure to water or other contaminants may be a concern. The MLX90823 also features a high level of accuracy and stability, making it an excellent choice for demanding applications that demand precise measurements.

The second sensor, the MLX90825, is a low-pressure sensor that is specifically designed for use in medical applications. This sensor is capable of measuring pressures up to 2.5 kPa and is highly accurate, making it an ideal choice for applications such as respiratory therapy and blood pressure monitoring. Like the MLX90823, the MLX90825 is also highly resistant to harsh media, making it an excellent choice for use in medical environments where exposure to liquids or other contaminants may be a concern.

Both of these sensors are based on Melexis' proprietary micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) technology, which offers a number of advantages over traditional sensing technologies. MEMS sensors are highly sensitive and can detect even the smallest changes in pressure, temperature or other environmental conditions. They are also highly reliable and durable, making them an excellent choice for use in harsh environments where traditional sensors may fail.

Overall, Melexis' new relative pressure sensor ICs represent an exciting development in the field of sensor technology. With their extended robustness to harsh media and high levels of accuracy and reliability, these sensors are poised to make a significant impact in a wide range of industries, from automotive and industrial applications to medical and healthcare settings.
