Infineon's Integrated Three-Phase IGBT Motor Drivers: Driving Performance Up to 4kW

13/08/2024

Infineon is setting the stage for high-performance motor control with its latest series of integrated three-phase IGBT motor drivers, designed to efficiently drive motors up to 4kW. This innovative lineup includes three models: the IM12B10CC1, IM12B15CC1, and IM12B20EC1, each perfectly suited for different power requirements.

1. IM12B10CC1: - Voltage: 800V - Current: 10A - Power Rating: 2.2kW

2. IM12B15CC1: - Voltage: 800V - Current: 15A - Power Rating: 3kW

3. IM12B20EC1: - Voltage: 800V - Current: 20A - Power Rating: 4kW

Each driver comes in a compact 36 x 23mm DIP package, making integration into existing systems seamless. These drivers utilize six 1,200V IGBTs, paired with six anti-parallel diodes, ensuring robust performance and longevity.

Key Features

- Protected Level-Shifting Gate Driver: Compatible with logic-level inputs down to 3.3V, enhancing versatility.

- Recommended DC-Link Voltage: Operate efficiently with a voltage range of 350 to 800V, typically set at 600V for optimal performance.

- Operating Frequencies: The IM12B20EC1 can handle frequencies like 5kHz and 25kHz, catering to various application needs.

- Parallel Inputs for Transistors: Each of the six transistors has corresponding inputs, requiring an external microcontroller for phase control.

Advanced Safety Features

To ensure safe operation, each model features:

- Schmitt Trigger and Glitch Rejection: Enhanced reliability for signal integrity.

- Dead-Time Insertion: Integrated logic helps prevent shoot-through in the half-bridges, although the company advises extending this with an external 1µs dead-time for optimal performance.

- Minimum Input Pulse Width: Set at 1µs, ensuring precise timing for effective operation.

For applications looking to enhance efficiency and reliability in motor control, Infineon’s series of integrated three-phase IGBT motor drivers offers a cutting-edge solution that meets a wide range of power needs while prioritizing safety and usability. With a commitment to innovative design and performance, Infineon is poised to revolutionize motor driving technology
