Aaeon's Mini-PC: Revolutionizing Robotics

17/01/2024

Aaeon is making significant strides in the realm of robotics with their latest innovation, the Xtreme 7100 Edge mini-PC. This compact yet powerful device is designed around Intel’s Core i3-N305 or Processor N97 CPUs, carefully selected for their optimal balance of power consumption and performance.

The versatility of the platform is evident in its ability to handle sensor data processing, integrated graphics, and the necessary resources for path planning and control algorithms. These crucial capabilities are vital for bringing automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots to market, signaling a major advancement in the robotics industry.

Measuring in at 152 x 124 x 40mm, the Xtreme 7100 Edge offers a sleek and compact form factor. Additionally, a bare board variant, sized at 120mm x 122mm and equipped with a heatsink, adds to the flexibility and adaptability of the device.

Terminal blocks and connectors are thoughtfully integrated to accommodate GPIO and isolated RS-232/422/485, while the CAN 2.0B interface is bolstered by a DIP switch and LEDs for seamless communication with other devices on a CAN bus network.

The mini-PC boasts an impressive array of peripheral support, including two 2.5Gbit/s Ethernet RJ-45 ports (Intel I226-IT), Type-A ports for 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 and 2x USB 2.0, and a USB Type-C port which also supports DisplayPort1.4a. Moreover, it features an eDP 1.3 connector for an additional display, catering to diverse use cases and requirements.

With support for up to 64Gbyte of eMMC and 6Gbit/s SATA, the Xtreme 7100 Edge ensures ample storage and data transfer capabilities. Furthermore, it is equipped with an M.2 2280 M-Key slot, enabling seamless integration of a Hailo-8 board for up to 26 Top/s of AI processing. The inclusion of an M.2 2230 E-Key for Wi-Fi and an M.2 3052 B-Key for a 5G modem further accentuates the device's potential for cutting-edge applications.

In conclusion, Aaeon's groundbreaking mini-PC, the Xtreme 7100 Edge, is poised to redefine the robotics landscape, offering a compelling blend of compact design, robust performance, and unmatched versatility. This innovation is set to empower developers and engineers in their quest to unlock the full potential of automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots.
