AMD Continues Spartan 6 FPGA Supply Until 2030

08/06/2023

AMD has declared that it will maintain the delivery of Spartan 6 FPGAs until at least 2030. These programmable integrated circuits were initially launched in 2009. AMD's response to recent supply chain disruptions is aimed at boosting customers' trust in its Xilinx product lines by making formal delivery commitments. In late 2022, the company pledged to provide its Xilinx 7 series FPGAs and SoCs until at least 2035, covering all speed and temperature grades such as Spartan-7, Artix-7, Kintex-7, Virtex-7, and Zynq-7000.

The decision to continue supplying Spartan 6 FPGAs until 2030 is a strategic move by AMD, as it will allow customers who have already invested in these products to plan for the long-term. By providing assurance and stability in their supply chain, AMD hopes to gain a competitive edge over other FPGA manufacturers.

Furthermore, the announcement regarding the Xilinx 7 series FPGAs and SoCs also reveals AMD's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its customers by providing them with reliable and consistent supply of high-quality components. This is particularly important given the current global semiconductor shortage that has impacted various industries worldwide.

Overall, AMD's decision to maintain supply commitments for its FPGA products until at least 2030 demonstrates the company's dedication to ensuring long-term customer satisfaction and continued success in the highly competitive semiconductor market.
